Çavdır Dam

Description

With water stored at the dam Çavdır, constructed on the river Bayýr, 9 km to the southeast of the district Çavdır, the province Burdur, it is possible to irrigate an area of a 4,254 hectares in total (993 hectares at Çavdır, 636 hectares at Gölhisar, 2,625 hectares at Acıpayam). The dam is a soil-filled structure, 60 m-high from the foundation, with a crest length of 744 meters, a backfill volume of 3,000,000 m³, a storage volume of 30,400,000 m³, a 317 m³ /sec. uncontrolled filled sluice of a downstream inlet, and with a 260 m-long derivation conduit extending in a 2.60 m-horseshoe shaped cross-section at the right bank. Under this dam construction, 7, 000,000 m³ of excavation and filling works were performed.
